Our hero, Ralf the Righteous, has ascended from servitude to wealth practically overnight. We pick up the story after Ralf’s successful conquest of the dark sorceress Nesta and the plundering of her treasure. Ralf hands off a share of the booty to Lord Byron and heads off on a journey to Kingsland, seeking to grow his power and acquire knowledge of his mysterious lineage.
